US - The Teacher Retirement System of Texas has switched its platform for hedge fund investments a week after writedowns rocked Wall Street and the state's largest pension fund lost US$145m in Lehman Brothers stock.

The "fund-of-hedge-funds" industry is facing serious question marks over its future business model after it was down 6.4% for the year through the end of August, compared with a 4.9% fall for hedge funds, as per data from Hedge Fund Research. (The Wall Street Journal)
