With all of the attention the troubled US housing market has garnered, it seems that an equally important market has been ignored more and more. And the market at hand is the hedge fund sector, that many experts close to the industry insist is changing at an extremely rapid pace.

The housing crisis of 2007 is the source of the top three picks by turnaround professionals predicting the most distressed industries in 2008.

A week after some investors tried forcing it into bankruptcy, Lisle-based Ritchie Capital defended management of its multi-strategy hedge fund and warned other investors that the group's legal action could "cause further damage to the value of your investment."
